Workbench
Workbench overview
The RAY Enterprise Workbench includes all the powerful features linguists have become dependent on from our legacy Workbench, but also has some important improvements. The first thing users will notice is the grid view, which replaces the legacy Workbench single-segment view. This allows linguists to quickly move from segment to segment as they are translating and have the full context of surrounding segments. It also provides extremely useful filters that only show the segments most relevant for linguists at that point in the translation process. In addition to the grid view, there are other new features included in the RAY Enterprise Workbench that are not included in the legacy Workbench. Use this documentation to become familiar with the Workbench as you are working.
Workbench functionality
Once the Workbench loads the Source URL into our Context Viewer, the extension links the text in the source segment to the corresponding text on the loaded web page.
These links go both ways - users can navigate within the Workbench segments to see their location in the web page text and vice versa.
Users can also display the translation in place of the source text on the web page, allowing you to see your translations in real-time.
In-context translation for subtitles
In the RAY Enterprise Workbench, Linguists can view the source video for context while translating subtitles. Like all of our in-context offerings, translated subtitles will replace the source text, so reviewers can ensure that translations match the tone and pace of the video. The source videos can be linked to the subtitle file at any point in the translation process. Users can the video file itself to the RAY Enterprise TMS or provide a link to where the videos are hosted.
