Japanese Translations Vancouver

Japanese Translation Agency Vancouver

Since the technology boom of the 1980's the need for Japanese translations has rocketed and now there are over 130 million Japanese speakers worldwide.

All the translators who work for us are based in-country, which means that they live and breathe the language and the culture. This can be very important when it comes to Japanese translations as some dialects such as Tsushima can be unintelligible to other Japanese speakers.

About the Japanese Language

Japanese is a language spoken by over 130 million people in Japan and in Japanese emigrant communities. It is a member of the Japonic (or Japanese-Ryukyuan) language family, which has a number of proposed relationships with other languages, none of which has gained wide acceptance among historical linguists. Japanese is an agglutinative language and a mora-timed language. It has a relatively small sound inventory, and a lexically significant pitch-accent system. It is distinguished by a complex system of honorifics reflecting the nature of Japanese society, with verb forms and particular vocabulary to indicate the relative status of the speaker, the listener, and persons mentioned in conversation. Japanese vowels are pure. The Japanese language is written with a combination of three scripts: Chinese characters called kanji, and two syllabic scripts made up of modified Chinese characters, hiragana and katakana. The Latin alphabet, rōmaji, is also often used in modern Japanese, especially for company names and logos, advertising, and when entering Japanese text into a computer. Arabic numerals are generally used for numbers, but traditional Sino-Japanese numerals are also commonplace.

About Vancouver

Vancouver is a coastal harbour city in British Columbia, Canada. Located in the Lower Mainland, Greater Vancouver is the third-largest metropolitan area in the country and most populous in Western Canada with 2,116,581 residents at the 2006 census. The city proper ranks eighth among Canadian cities, with a population of 578,041 at the 2006 Census. In 2010 the population was estimated at 642,843, and the metropolitan population estimated at just over 2.37 million, making it the most densely populated Canadian city among those with over 25,000 residents.

Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Metro Vancouver into the third-largest film production centre in North America after Los Angeles and New York City, earning its film industry the nickname Hollywood North.

Vancouver has ranked highly in worldwide "livable city" rankings for more than a decade and it was also acknowledged as the first city to rank among the top-ten of the world's most liveable cities for five straight years. It has hosted many international conferences and events, including the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, Expo 86, and the World Police and Fire Games in 1989 and 2009. The 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics were held in Vancouver and nearby Whistler, a resort community 125 km (78 miles) north of the city.
